Reading my email, a friend of mine (who was with me when my wife called about the house being on fire) suggested that the smoke might have come from the dishwasher. I walked right over to the dishwasher which had already begun its heated dry cycle, and removed this wooden spoon from the heating element.
Nice call Jeff, thanks!

Yay! That shouldn't be a big repair charge. What a relief eh?
ReplyDeleteWhat a relief! Thanks for the update!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh this happened to me when I was about 15 and babysitting my siblings! It was horrifying. I called a neighbor and he figured it out in about 5 minutes. I felt like a major retard. Totally same thing--wooden spoon, which gives off the most horrible toxic smell, huh?

We've had a few things melt in the dishwasher over the years! What a relief that it wasn't worse! And congrats!!!!! on #4!!! I've been a bad bad blogger and missed that announcement. That is so wonderful. You better take it easy...I know easier said than done with 3 busy active kids already. Been there! I'm planning to come out this summer again, beginning of June. It would be so great to see you and a bunch of cousins. The park BBQ was so great last year! Love you so much!!
ReplyDeleteDOH! Well, hooray for it being a simple thing and for everyone being safe and sound and your house being intact.
ReplyDeleteBeen there, done that! I'm glad you are all safe!
