Really. I know that life is hard at times. If you feel like your life is rosy, well just wait. There are some trials that you semi-expect. Generally children are naughty sometimes; at times we feel inadequate or feel we struggle with choices that other people make. The trials you don't expect are the hardest to grapple with.
Isn't it amazing when you are in the thick of a trial how consuming it becomes? You become so focused and the hardest thing in and of itself is staying positive. Feeling like there will be an end in site.
The day after labor day Ben came home from work early. He literally had all his stuff from his desk in his arms and his face was all I needed to see to know what happened. He was laid off and without any warning. They told him that it was nothing that he had done, but just unmet expectations as a whole group. We sat on the couch and looked at each other, and said "well crap". In our relationship Ben is my Northern star. He is the calmest, even person. He was a bit emotional because it was very unexpected. After about 10 minutes he stood up and went to the temple. What a good example he is to me. He went right to putting his resume out there and took a job offer a little over 3 weeks of loosing the last one. I'm proud of him. It is a trial that is difficult while going through it.
The thing that put this trial into perspective is the accident with my niece. The accident happened the day after the job loss. It was a shock but the resounding thing that Ben and I kept feeling was the gratitude that we felt that our children are healthy and happy. That we have an eternal perspective and the peace that the gospel brings. We have a warm home, food on the table and wonderful friends and family. What more could we ask for?
There are so many miracles that have happened during this process. Some too intimate to write about, but we are very blessed.
Angelee is a miracle. She is doing so well. I love how Janette, my sister in law is so honest in her posts. It's been traumatic to watch. It makes life feel so unpredictable. We love them so much and just feel so thankful!!
